Swordplay and Praise

Let the godly ones exult in glory, let them sing for joy in their beds.
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand,
to execute vengeance on the nations, and punishment on the peoples; to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron, to execute on them the judgment written;
this is an honor for all His godly ones.
Praise the Lord!
Psalm 149:5-9

Our enemy despises the Word of God. He hates the mention of the cross, and the victory of Christ over death and darkness. He doesn’t like to be reminded of the resurrection. In fact, he will flee at the mention of such things. I was privileged and humbled to see this occur with my own eyes just this week. I was reminded that, “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 6:12) Driving home, I felt unworthy, overwhelmed by the goodness and grace of God – that He would allow me to be a part of such things, and I wept. It was an honor, and I praise Him for it.
