Crosswalk Youth Camp

We just returned from a week at Gordon College in Wenham, MA – Crosswalk Camp put on by the Baptist Convention of New England. There were 400 kids – 7th-12th graders- from all over New England. Robert was the Camp Pastor for the week. The theme this year was The Holy Spirit. This was his fourth year to be Camp Pastor and fifth year to be on the camp staff. We love going to this beautiful campus and living in the dorm for the week – 3 bedroom suites with a kitchen and living area! The kids favorite part of the week is eating in the cafeteria – french fries twice a day for a whole week! I had to substitute some entrees with gluten free versions, but the cafeteria chef was very helpful, and cooked us plain chicken and beef tips a couple of nights.
Robert did an incredible job preaching six sermons, and the Lord used them in the lives of many teens.

The other silly theme for the week was The 80’s! So, here are Kory and Cooper sporting mullets – a favorite hairstyle from that era. We also did aerobics each morning Richard Simmons/Jane Fonda style, and had daily briefings over the Hill Street Blues theme song. There were lots of leg warmers and bright plastic beads and earrings – what memories!

Kory was old enough to be a camper this year! He had a blast being in his own Bible study and choosing his own “track time.” He chose competitive sports, so every afternoon he spent two hours rotating between the sports of football, cricket, ultimate frisbee (very big in New England), and soccer. He’s also old enough to smell like a boy and came back to the room each day and went straight to the shower!

It was a great week – full of fellowship, worship, fun, and the presence of the Lord!
